Kwesi Nyantakyi Wants To Be MP

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association, is set to run for the parliamentary seat in the Ejisu Constituency, Ashanti Region.

This vacancy arose after the unfortunate passing of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah on March 7, 2024.

Nyantakyi, a native of Ejisu, aims to succeed the late Honourable John Kumah in the upcoming by-election, pending the New Patriotic Party’s selection process.

While potential opponents remain undisclosed, Nyantakyi enjoys widespread support within the party ranks, positioning him as a frontrunner for the candidacy. Known for his amiability and legal background, Nyantakyi has long harbored political aspirations, and his bid for the Ejisu seat marks his entry into formal politics.

Should he secure victory, Nyantakyi is poised to represent the constituency in the subsequent general election slated for December, extending his leadership beyond the football realm where he served as GFA president from 2005 to 2018.
