Lockdown Task Force Hits Road

A Special Task Force, primarily tasked to ensure total compliance with the social distancing protocol in Obuasi, have started work.

Their duty has been dubbed ‘Social Distancing Operation’ and they officially kick-started on Monday, which would last for several weeks or months.

The duty of the task force is to ensure that everyone in the mining town adheres strictly to government protocols to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The task force members would focus mainly at markets, where they would work to ensure that market women adhered to the social distancing order.

According to reports monitored by The New Publisher, the task force would start their work with education to sensitize the people.

The sensitization, which is expected to last for some few days, would be followed by applying the law to deal with recalcitrant traders and shoppers.

Aside the market, the task force would also make sure that few commercial cars that are operating in Obuasi, would also respect the social distancing rule.

Again, they would also ensure that residents in other areas of the mining town, also practice social distancing and other protocols by health experts.

Ghana government, like other countries in the world, have implemented the social distancing order to stop the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus.

Market women at Dr. Mensah Market in Kumasi have breached the social distancing order severally, compelling authorities to close the market.

It is not clear whether the behaviour of market women in Dr. Mensah Market in Kumasi influenced the decision of authorities at Obuasi to introduce a task force.
