Mahama Campaign Messages ‘Empty’ – Team Member of Goosie Tanoh

George Kukuu Ampiah who is the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator for National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Goosie Tanoh has described ex-President John Dramani Mahama’s message to delegates during his 5-day tour of the Greater Accra region as “empty and lacking substance”.

Kukuu Ampiah says he does not understand why former President Mahama who is seeking to contest for the flagbearer of the party in the 2020 national elections held a meeting with delegates last Wednesday and failed to allow even a single question from them.

The former President is currently on a campaign tour across the country in a bid to be retained as NDC Flagbearer for the election 2020 after being beaten over one million votes in the 2016 elections by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

To Kukuu Ampiah, Mr. Mahama’s campaign is full of funfair, similar to the grand rallies he held for his 2016 campaign; insisting that the campaign message of Mr. Mahama is “weak, lacks focus and unconvincing”.

Kukuu Ampiah was among the delegates when Mahama held a 30 minutes meeting with them.

He took to social media to criticize the message, ascribing it as ‘hopeless’.

“Mahama’s message is empty; why do I say so? I had the opportunity to listen to him today at Osu Presbyterian Church Hall and the message he had to say was that he pleaded to be given a second chance and this time promised to personally join the branches in the constituencies on a door to door campaign. No mention of policies or anything of hope for the future,” he stated.

He also criticized Mr. Mahama for turning up to the program nearly 3 hours late which was originally scheduled to commence at 10:30 am.

He advised the former President Mahama to rather use the tour opportunity to justify why the delegates of the NDC should continue to repose confidence in him having disappointed them during the 2016 polls and to provide an opportunity for the people to ask him questions.

“….Mr Mahama is running away from debates and from being questioned by delegates because he has no substantive message to give,” he noted and urged the party’s delegates not to fall for his “empty promises”.

John Mahama is facing stiff competition from 12 other contestants including former personal assistant to former President Rawlings, Goosie Tanoh who has officially written to the NDC party to contest the vacant Flagbearership slot.
