Mahama Hits Road With ‘Reset Ghana Tour’

President John Dramani Mahama will today, Wednesday, March 18, embark on a comprehensive nationwide tour, dubbed the “Resetting Ghana Tour,” aimed at bridging the gap between the seat of government and the grassroots while providing direct oversight of development projects across the country.

The initiative, confirmed by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Tuesday, is designed to take the pulse of the nation through a series of high-level engagements with key stakeholders and the general public. The announcement signals a shift towards what the presidency describes as “practical governance,” moving beyond official briefings to on-the-ground assessment.

Labour and Civil Society Engagement

According to the schedule released by Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s week of activities commenced today with a crucial meeting with organised labour. This follows a similar engagement with the business community last month, underscoring the administration’s focus on social partnership. A meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) is also in the pipeline, although a specific date is yet to be announced.

Flag-off in Bono Region

The physical tour is set to kick off today Wednesday, March 18, in the Bono Region. President Mahama will be accompanied by a host of officials, including regional ministers, local government authorities, and other stakeholders directly involved in project implementation.

Speaking during a visit by Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to the Office of Government Communications, Minister Kwakye Ofosu elaborated on the philosophy behind the tour.

“The President believes it is not enough for ministers to brief the nation from the presidency,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated. “He is stepping out to lead the ‘Resetting the Ghana Project,’ starting from the Bono Region tomorrow. This exercise will give the President a direct, first-hand view of ongoing developments nationwide.”

The tour, he added, will be a nationwide exercise involving ministers, regional officials, and district chief executives, who will tour project sites and interact with traditional leaders and community stakeholders.

Launch of Farmer Services Centre Initiative

A highlight of the week’s activities will occur on Saturday, March 21, when President Mahama travels to the Afram Plains. There, he will cut the sod for the construction of the first Farmer Services Centre. This event marks the launch of a major agricultural initiative aimed at boosting productivity.

The government has announced plans to establish 70 such centres across the country within the year. The centres are expected to serve as one-stop shops for farmers, providing access to resources, extension services, and mechanisation support.

The “Resetting Ghana Tour” is being positioned by the presidency as a cornerstone of the Mahama administration’s broader strategy to enhance government accountability, ensure the timely completion of projects, and strengthen its connection with citizens across all sixteen regions
