The Hon. Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has underscored government’s firm commitment to ensuring safety and scientific credibility in the use of natural health products for chronic disease management under MahamaCare.
Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister, Director for Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Dr. Anastasia Yirenkyi, at the Natural Health & Wellness Expo 2026 emphasized that natural health products can only be integrated into national healthcare delivery if they undergo rigorous scientific evaluation, are properly standardized, produced under Good Manufacturing Practices, and backed by reliable safety data approved by Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
She further reaffirmed government’s readiness to partner with researchers, innovators, and manufacturers to advance evidence-based natural health solutions that can support the growing burden of chronic diseases.
Prof. Ayesu Danquah emphasised that MahamaCare presents a significant opportunity for collaboration and innovation, but only products that meet established scientific and regulatory standards will be endorsed to ensure public health and build confidence in Ghana’s natural health industry.
