Man jailed 5 years for selling fake insecticides

A 45-YEAR OLD man, who has been identified as Atta Kwadwo, has been incarcerated for five years after the Nkawie Circuit Court found him guilty of producing and selling fake AF Confidence Insecticides to get rich.

AF Confidence Insecticides are originally produced by New Okaff Industries Limited, who have the patent rights.

Atta Kwadwo, who owns a shop at Kejetia, used dubious means to produce and sold the products on the market.

The prosecutor said in court that one Issifu Ibrahim, from the Western Region, bought some of the fake products.

According to the prosecutor, Ibrahim reported to New Okaff Industries that the product could not work for him.

Officials of New Okaff Industries then became suspicious so they informed the police to arrest Atta Kwadwo.

The police also found quantities of the fake products on Atta Kwadwo, which also implicated him further.

During the court’s sitting on March 5, 2021, Atta Kwadwo pleaded guilty and he was consequently incarcerated.

The Counsel for New Okaff Industries, William Antwi, said the jailing of Atta Kwadwo would scare other bad people.

He said some people have been producing fake products with New Okaff Industries labels embossed on them lately.

Mr. William Antwi expressed hope that the incarceration of Atta Kwadwo would help stop the fake products menace.
