THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command believes that one Sadat Mohammed, 38, aka ‘Alhaji’, a dreaded spiritualist, may be responsible for the murder of the late Asamponghene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor.
‘Alhaji’, who was consequently declared wanted by the police, is currently on the run.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP David Agyeman Agyem, said the police had since secured an arrest warrant from court to apprehend him.
According to him, the Asamponghene was in the company of Sadat few hours before he was found dead on Sunday.
“Police checks have revealed that the late chief visited Sadat Mohammed in his (Alhaji’s) house at Kwadaso in Kumasi on Sunday morning.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, ACP Agyeman Agyem said the Asamponghene and Alhaji traveled together the same day.
The police capo said the lifeless body of the Asamponghene was later found in his Toyota Landcruiser on the Ejura-Nkoranza stretch. The suspect went missing immediately it was uncovered that the chief had been murdered.
