Manhunt For Fadama ‘Killer’

The Accra Regional Police Command is courting the support of the National Chief Imam to avert a possible reprisal attack in Fadama, Accra, following clashes between two youth groups on Tuesday.

The disturbances, which led to the death of one person, have heightened tension in the area, and there are fears the situation could escalate.

The Police are on a manhunt for the assailant, whose name has been given as Nuhu, alias ‘Not Nice’.

Accra Regional Police PRO, DSP Afia Tenge, told Citi News the Command has met the Chief Imam and some leaders of the community to intervene.

“We visited the Chief Imam to inform him of what has happened and also to call on him to intervene as well as the MCE of the area. Both of them have even been to the area to access the extent of the damage to see what they can do immediately,” she said.

According to reports from the Accra Regional Police Command, the police received information on March 4, 2019, that a young man had been stabbed by another young man near the Abeka public toilet following a brawl between the two of them.

The brawl was said to have been caused by some misunderstanding between the two over a shisha.

The casualty of the brawl, Mohamed Kamal was stabbed in his collar bone and the left rib with a knife.

He was rushed to the Ridge Hospital and was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit but died around 2 a.m. on March 5, 2019.

The 62nd Independence anniversary parade, which was to be held at the Fadama Cluster of Schools, was cancelled because of the clashes.
