Manhyia South Elect NPP Executives

THE MANHYIA South Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Kumasi, on Saturday, conducted one of the most peaceful party elections ever in the history of the party in the constituency.

Events leading to the polls were very peaceful as hundreds of party delegates and the aspirants, who were all present, conducted themselves very well to help make the electoral process an incident-free affair.

After the polls, Gabriel Kofi Anane, the incumbent NPP Chairman in Manhyia South Constituency and Alhaji Abubakar Alhassan, the Organizer, retained their seats as they were unopposed candidates.

Ibrahim Hamidu, polled 304 votes to retain the first vice chairman seat; Seth Twumasi, secured 358 votes to take the second vice position and Haruna Alhassan, secured 302 votes to retain the secretary position.

Joe Dofour Junior, polled 250 votes to take the youth organizer position; Bashiru Issaka, secured 309 to take the NASARA Coordinator position and Kofi Amoah Asamoah, polled 262 to become the treasurer of the party.

Oscar Boah had 283 votes to take the assistant secretary position, but the women organizer position race ended in a stalemate with the two leading contestants, Mary Coker and Helena Pinamang, polling 199 votes each.

In all some 441 delegates of the party in the constituency, which represents about 90 percent of the total votes, were there to cast their ballot in an election which was devoid of troubles.

The election was supervised by a team from the Ashanti Regional NPP office and the Manhyia South Election Committee of the NPP. They were applauded for doing a good job to make the polls successful.

In his succinct remarks after the polls, the Manhyia South NPP Lawmaker, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, congratulated the party members for contributing to make the polls peaceful.

He congratulated the newly elect party executives and charged them to quickly hit the grounds by uniting the entire party people in Manhyia South so they can work together to promote the party.

Dr. Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah, one of the NPP regional representatives that supervised the polls, admonished the NPP members in Manhyia South to embrace peace and unity to help move the party forward.

Earlier on, Dr. Oheneba-Danso, another representative of the regional NPP, stated that the NPP needs formidable constituency executives across the country to help make victory 2020 easier for the party.

Gabriel Kofi Anane, the NPP constituency chairman, assured that the new executives would unite and work harder so that the party would be stronger in the area, leading to victory 2020 for the NPP.
