Ghanaian dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy says marriage demands much more than just money.
In a recent interview with Joy Prime, the Into the Future hitmaker shared that being a husband involves deep emotional, physical, and mental commitment.
“We just figured Stonebwoy wrote this song for his future wife and it’s lovely,” the host said, referring to the touching lyrics in his music.
Stonebwoy explained that marriage is expensive in many ways.
“Marriage is expensive, having a wife is expensive. You have to invest time, which is incredibly valuable. You need to allocate resources, which are never cheap. You must give attention, and even attention comes at a price. These are things you simply cannot buy,” he said.
He went on to talk about how society puts pressure on men to take full responsibility in marriage. According to him, many expect men to be the main providers, which brings emotional and financial challenges.
“As a man, I grew up in a household where I witnessed responsibility firsthand. I understand that societal norms expect men to be caretakers. While it is a role we accept, it’s certainly not easy, and it definitely isn’t cheap. The costs are real,” Stonebwoy added.
Last month, Stonebwoy and his wife, Dr. Louisa, celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary.
The couple have two children together. Their love story continues to inspire many fans, as Stonebwoy often praises his wife for her constant support and strength, especially with his demanding music career.
