Martha Ankomah rejects LilWin settlement claims

Actress Martha Ankomah has denied reports that she reached a GHS 300,000 settlement with Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah (LilWin) in their ongoing GH₵5 million defamation case.

Earlier reports suggested both parties had agreed on a settlement on Tuesday, 25th February, after previous negotiations collapsed.

According to StarrFM.com.gh, as part of the process, they must submit the agreed terms and appear in court on 1st April 2025, where Justice Forson Baah Agyepong will finalize the agreement as a consent judgment.

However, in an interview with Adom FM, Ankomah dismissed the claims, insisting no such agreement exists.

“It is not true that we have reached this settlement. It’s sad, I don’t know who is writing those stories,” she said. “The truth is that when we went to court, the judge directed us to return with the apology. So on 1st April, we will go back to court and review the apology to ensure that it is acceptable.”

She reiterated that her main concern is a proper retraction and apology, not financial compensation.

“I have already said that if he apologises and takes back his words, I will not demand anything from him, except maybe our legal costs. But I don’t want anything from him—not a dime,” she stated.

Ankomah emphasized the importance of accountability, saying people should not make false claims without consequences.

“I just want him to do the right thing so that people understand that you cannot say anything and get away with it in this country. This is simply to serve as a lesson. I am not perfect—everyone makes mistakes and should be forgiven, but I want him to realise that the law works in this country.”

She clarified that the court has made no decision on a settlement and that the judge’s final ruling will be communicated to the public.

“The previous apology was not enough because he failed to retract his statements, including the insults and lies, he went too far,” she added.

Both parties will return to court on 1st April 2025 for the judge to review the apology and adopt the final terms as a consent judgment.
