Match Preview: Man City vs Man Utd

The highly-anticipated fixture will come on over the weekend on Sunday as the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City host nemesis Manchester United in the first Manchester Derby of the season.

City were denied the chance to lift the Premier League trophy in front of their neighbours last season when Paul Pogba inspired his side to a thrilling 3-2 win at the Etihad last May.

It only delayed the inevitable however with last season’s champions already leading United by nine points just 11 games into the new campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side come into the fixture with a different aura about them, however.

Both teams are flying in confidence in the league especially with the Blue side of Manchester as they are on top of the Premier League after dismantling Southampton 6-0 at the Etihad last weekend. The Red Devils have also enjoyed a couple of good results in the league with the notable one being the 1-2 victory against Bournemouth courtesy Rashford’s strike in injury time.

A triumph for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will see them extend their unbeaten run and increasing their lead on top of the Premier League. Meanwhile, a win for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will drag them closer to the top four spots.

Manchester City v Manchester United: Prediction

Both teams will collide after performing impressively with Manchester City beating Southampton and FC Shakhtar Donetsk six goals each while Manchester United had a confidence-boosting victory over Juventus in midweek as they are unbeaten in four matches after their gloomy start to the season.

This will be a very cagey encounter as both teams are aware of their prowess and weakness. Man City are scoring relentlessly and they will be hoping to show their scoring prowess against the leaky United defence. United will also be relying upon their second-half performances in the recent weeks to give them a victory.
