Minister Bares Teeth at ‘Stubborn’ Traders

FROM ALL indications, the days when traders had the leeway to sell their wares in the streets of Kumasi, will soon be a thing of the past.

This is because, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has vowed to ensure that every trader is removed from the streets.

“We shall not allow any recalcitrant trader to sell his/her products in the streets of Kumasi, which is the capital of the Ashanti region.

“Every trader will be sacked from the streets, without special treatment being given to any person”, he sternly warned.

The minister observed that trading in the streets, aside being an eyesore, also puts the lives of the traders in danger.

“Trading in the streets clearly puts the lives of the trader in gross danger as they can be hit and killed by a vehicle, accidentally.

“Unfortunately, the accident which occurred in Accra recently, where some traders were run over by a vehicle is a warning to all of us.

“We shall therefore sack all the traders from the streets of Kumasi to help avert such disaster in our city”, he told the media.
