Mr. Prince marches to Highlife beat

SINCE he joined the Highlife scene since childhood, born Prince Opoku Gyamfi, Mr Prince as he is known in showbiz has found a way of infusing humour into his music, making him stand out.

Even though he touches on very important issues such as marriage, broken homes and its consequences, he approaches them with an entertaining twist and his style has earned him some attention since then.

In an era where people are doing the same style of music or using similar sounds, Mr. Prince does well to break from the mold.

To stay relevant and harder to promote the genre for future betterment, he is set to release his debut single on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

The track, a Highlife piece titled ‘Show me’, talks about loving someone for a long time and being ignored but still pushing.

In a chat with thepublisheronline.com, Mr Prince said the Highlife genre is not declining as perceived by many but rather the future looks bright.

”Highlife music is respected everywhere but I believe we need to push it more and also look at the positive side of the genre, reason some of us want to do something different from the ordinary” he said.

Mr Prince is linked to the legendary high life musician, Kwabena Akwaboah by lineage.

As a talented song writer and singer, Mr Prince has participated in three reality shows in Ghana; TV3 Mentor 7, Viasat 1 Born Stars and MTN Hitzmaker Season 3.

He also plays the guitar and has performed on various stages including Citi FM’s MOGO Awards, and also had the honour to perform for the King of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and former president John Dramani Mahama.

He has also shared stage with veteran artistes like CK Man, Paulina Oduro, Amandziba, Teddy Osei(of legendary group Osibisa) J. A. Adofo, Asebu Amanfi, Max Kofi, Ofori Amponsah and Kofi B.
