Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has rewarded the first batch of winners in the just ended “Mtn Shortz Challenge” at a brief ceremony held in Accra.
The challenge was launched in August to reward loyal customers and empower them digitally to serve as a reference point for them to access short video contents like comedy, animation, podcast, games, and films.
Explaining the reason for the challenge, the Senior Manager in charge of Products and Services Marketing, Sefenu Agordjo, said the aim was to enable content developers generate revenue from their contents.
He indicated that a total number of 376 youth participated, of which 200 were for Short Film category, 113 participated in Comedy Videos and the rest participated in Best Short on phone film and Best Local Language Video.
“Most of the entries were very good and impressive. We are indeed confident about the success and future of digital content creation,” he said
Deserving winners received a cash prize of GH¢ 6,000.00 each while the overall took home GH¢ 20,000.00 via Mtn mobile money.
The first five winners in the challenge were Kwaku Tabiri ,Games Category: Lady M, Podcast Category : Barry Issah, Animation Category : DNA Multimedia, Funny Videos : Buzz Gh, Most Trending and the overall best , Jehoshaphat Kwame Agbee : Short Film Category.
The award ceremony was graced by media personalities like Kafui Danku, Nabil Meizongo and Edem Kumodzi.
Mr. Sefenu urged all persons with creative ability, ideas and talents to take advantage of the digital space to be innovative and make money
“The good thing is that now that you have other options to showcase your work apart from traditional television station, all you need is to create your own digital channel to showcase what you have” he reiterated.
