Murdered Nurse Laid To Rest …Family Calls For Justice

The family of the nurse murdered at Sewua in Kumasi are calling for justice as Ruth Arhin was laid to rest on Saturday.

Other mourners and sympathisers, mostly from the health sector added their voices to the family’s calls for those behind the dastardly act to be brought to book.

Brother of deceased’s husband, Joseph Kobinah says they are contemplating relocating the family from the area.

“In fact, we are still calling for justice. The police have been updating us so we hope the law will take its course. We are also pleading with the general public to give whatever information they have to the police. Whoever knows anything about the murder should inform the police. We are so surprised at how this thing happened. We are also thinking about relocating children.”

Ruth Arhin, 37, was murdered a few metres from her house at Sewua.

The mother of three did not return home after closing from work on February 3, and was later found dead the next day.

Hundreds of sympathisers on Saturday, thronged the family house at Ayuom to pay their last respect.

The leadership of all the 13 bodies within the nursing profession were at the event to solidarise with their fallen colleague.

Last week, Parliament called for swift justice and intensified investigation into the gruesome death of the nurse.

Dr Kwabena Twum-Nuamah, Chairman of Parliament Committee of Health implored the House to invite the Interior Minister to brief them on security arrangements for health workers, especially for those in deprived areas.

He further appealed to the chiefs and people in the area to volunteer vital information to apprehend killers.

Days after the dastardly act, the crime scene was set ablaze although the Police say the fire will not in any way affect investigations into the incident.

According to them, investigators had already carried out a deconstruction of the crime scene; a bush near the home of the victim. So far, one person has been arrested by police in connection with the murder.

The suspected was picked up after a phone found at the scene of the crime was traced to the unidentified suspect.

The cause of the death is yet to be confirmed by police.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Ruth Eshun was allegedly raped before her death.
