The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has honoured former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a strong supporter of the arts and Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
In a statement released on October, 24, 2025, MUSIGA said its relationship with Nana Konadu was built on warmth, guidance, and a deep commitment to the growth of the creative industry. The Union praised her active role in planning the 2021 tribute concert for the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, noting that her involvement greatly contributed to the event’s success.
According to MUSIGA, Nana Konadu worked hand in hand with the Union to design a ceremony that celebrated the former President while highlighting the importance of musicians in keeping Ghana’s history alive. Her collaboration, the Union said, showed her belief that culture and service must go together to create a better future for the country.
MUSIGA also extended appreciation to her children , Kimathi, Ezanetor, Amina, and Yaa Asantewaa , expressing hope that they continue to be guided by their mother’s courage, vision, and dedication.
Quoting MUSIGA President Bessa Simons, the statement read: “Art is the heartbeat that keeps a nation singing through its trials and triumphs.” The Union added that Nana Konadu always encouraged them to let that heartbeat soar, to support artistes, and to promote Ghana’s cultural identity.
MUSIGA expressed deep gratitude for her leadership, solidarity, and generosity, saying her legacy continues to inspire the Union to champion Ghanaian music and protect the welfare of artistes.
