His election on Saturday therefore means he would deputize for Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman, who retained his position unopposed.

The party’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, Mr. Sam Pyne, also retained his position as nobody contested him, and would also be deputized by Kwame Adom Appiah, who won the deputy secretary race.

The second vice position was easily won by Sam Cudjoe a key figure in the party, whilst Francis Adomako, a lecturer in Kumasi won the regional organizer position.

Nana Ama Ampomah, the women organizer, defeated, against all odds though, her only contender, Beatrice Owusu aka ‘Auntie B’.

Nelson Owusu Ansah was picked as the new youth organizer whilst Hajiya Zeinab, a Banker, was retained as treasurer. Saalim Mansuru Bamba won the regional NASARA contest.

The regional elections were held at Ejura on Saturday.  In a speech after the elections, Chairman Wontumi, on behalf of the new executives, promised to hard work to help make the party stronger for polls 2020.

He assured that the three constituencies now in the hands of the largest opposition party in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), namely Asawase, Ejura and Sekyre Afram Plains, would be snatched by the NPP in 2020.
