Naked Wife Beater, Siblings Arrested

The Ghana Police have arrested a man, after a video showing him physically assaulting, a woman believed to be his wife went viral on social media.

The incident was captured by a neighbour who witnessed the attack and shared the footage on social media, where it quickly went viral.

According to the person who recorded the video, the man, described as a landlord, was known for regularly beating his wife. In the video, the woman appeared naked, sitting on the floor, and pleading desperately for mercy.

The public outrage generated by the video prompted swift action from the police. The suspect has been identified as John Odartey Lamptey and was arrested on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his family home in the Ga East Municipal area.

Following the arrest, two of his siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey were also taken into custody. They had reportedly attempted to attack a female tenant suspected of recording and circulating the video. The tenant was rescued and is now safe.

The police, in a press statement, confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and secure the safety of the wife, who fled the scene before officers arrived. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm while investigations continue.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their residence at Ofankor in the Ga East Municipality.

The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was arrested on Monday, November 17th 2025, at the family residence.

Following his arrest, two of his siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, who attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the video, were also arrested, and the tenant was rescued to ensure her safety.

Efforts are underway to locate and ensure the safety of the wife who had fled the scene before the Police arrived.

The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators face the full rigour of the law.
