Nana Addo, GPCC and Others Congratulate COP Chairman-Elect Apostle Nyamekye

President Akufo-Addo has congratulated Apostle Eric Nyamekye on his election as Chairman of the Church of Pentecost.

Nana Addo wrote on his twitter page at 0946 hours GMT that; “Warmest congratulations to Apostle Eric Nyamekye on his election as the new Chairman of the Church of Pentecost. God bless him, and be his guide, in the discharge of his duties.”

Apostle Nyamekye, who passed all two electoral tests with flying colours at the 43rd General Council Meeting of the COP, becomes the sixth Chairman to be elected by the Church since the Founder and First Chairman James McKeown.

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) also wrote on their official twitter page, “Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) congratulate Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye on his election as the next Chairman of the Church of Pentecost. God bless you and guide you to discharge your duties.”

UTV Ghana, popular Akan Television station tweeted, “CONGRATULATIONS, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye elected as the new Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, to take over from Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah.”

Reverend Richard Whitcomb, the Senior Pastor of Agape House New Testament Church in East Legon, wrote on his page, “Congratulations to Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, Chairman-Elect of the Church of Pentecost. May God guide you with His wisdom, grace, and strength”.

Fleck Daniels, an event organizer and blogger, wrote, “Congratulations Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman elect of the Church of Pentecost.”

Praise Catalogue, an organization that provides real time updates on gospel events, wrote, “Congratulations Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman elect- Church of Pentecost, May the good Lord guide you through this journey.”

John Snow, wrote, “Congratulation Apostle Eric Nyamekye, new Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, May the good Lord be with you as you lead this great church.”

Apostle Nyamekye (56), who was till the election, the Area Head for Koforidua area of the COP, was first nominated to be made Executive Council member of the Church in 2013 by his predecessor Apostle Opoku Onyinah.

He was again nominated for the top-most position by the outgoing Apostle, who served as Chairman for 10 years; which is two terms, and 42 years in general as a steward of the Church.

Apostle Nyamekye, who is married to Mary Nyamekye, with six children, will lead the Church that has about nine per cent of Ghanaian population as members for the next five years as the outgoing Chairman officially retires in August of this year.
