Napo registers for new voter ID card

DR. MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, has registered with the Electoral Commission as a voter and issued with the voters registration card, thereby giving him the right to vote in the December 7 national polls.

Nicknamed ‘Napo’ in the political circles, the popular lawmaker went through the required processes before he was allowed to register at the Apagyafie-Ash Town Registration Center on Sunday morning.

Napo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliament Candidate (PC) for Manhyia South in the upcoming elections, expressed satisfaction about the level of comportment and orderliness at the registration center.

He said he observed that the people were in long queues and they also comported themselves very well without any problems.
Napo urged them to continue to allow orderliness to prevail in all the registration centers in the country.

Napo, who is also the Minister of Education, said he was also impressed about how the people adhered to social distancing and other health protocols, to help prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

“There was spaces in the queues and that was a positive sign that the people are ready and determined to go by the important health tips that the health professionals have issued so far”, the Manhyia South MP said.

Napo also appealed to every Ghanaian that has attained the voting age of 18 years to register so that they would be given the right to exercise their franchise during the presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to Napo, registering to vote is the civic right of every Ghanaian therefore nobody should refuse to register, saying that “you should not allow other people to vote and determine your future for you”.
