NDC Splits Over “One Man” – Namoale Weeps

Nii Amasah Namoale, a former Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon, has cried foul over what he has described as a growing aggression against divergent views within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), especially when the views are opposed to that of “one mam.”

The former Parliamentarian who was onetime a Deputy Minister for Agric and a confident of late President Atta Mills “because of One Man the party is divided into three, two third supporting him and one third have gone into silence (culture of silence). You say any truth not in his ‘One Man’ favour, you are finished with insults, threats, warnings, blackmailing etc”.

The outspoken politician took to his Facebook wall to complain but fell short of mentioning the name of the particular “one man” he was referring to.

This was what exactly Namoale wrote on his wall: “Today because of some ‘Bulldogs’ people are intimidated into silence.

“Because of One Man the party is divided into three, two third supporting him and one third have gone into silence (culture of silence). You say any truth not in his ‘One Man’ favour, you are finished with insults, threats, warnings, blackmailing etc. Oh, what a ‘Democratic’ Congress we have. The one-third that are being bullied are needed for 2020. We are to practice democracy not oligocracy, autocracy and monarchy. Is there an English language word ‘OneMancracy’? I want to know. The party is divided because of One Man.”

Barely three months ago, Nii Amasah Namoale stated publicly that his life was being threatened by some known persons within the NDC because he has spoken in a way that did not favour former President Mahama.

“I have had enough, I will not talk about President Mahama again to save my name,” he said during a panel discussion on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ and stated that he would never engage in any discussion concerning former President John Dramani Mahama in the media.

The quest for a Presidential candidate to represent the NDC for the 2020 polls has ignited a rather subtle intra party jostling and shoving.

So far, names that have popped up as showing an interest in the slot includes Ekwo Spio Garbrah from the Central Region, Doe Adjaho from the Volta Region, Alban Bagbin from the Upper West Region, Joshua Alabi from the Greater Accra Region and Sylvester Mensah who the double advantage of coming from both the Volta and Greater Accra Regions.

John Mahama, although has not personally confirmed his interest in the slot, persons close to him have not denied he is staging a comeback.

Indeed, this coming Saturday, John Mahama would be leading the NDC Unity Walk campaign once again.

Although the Unity Walks are explained as aimed at enhancing intra party unity, Mr. Mahama has been accused of using the platform to his advantage.
