NDC suspends Ayawaso North constituency Chairman

Despite the fact that, the Ghana Police Service has withdrawn the criminal charges against National Vice Chairman Alhaji Said Sinare for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Alhaji Said Sinare, the party has still suspended its chairman for the Ayawaso North constituency, Tahiru Ahmed.

The suspension the party says comes after his report to the police claiming that Alhaji Said Sinare was arming some youth to cause chaos in the December 2020 polls.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker said the suspension of the constituency chairman was because he sidestepped the party’s internal procedures for resolving issues.

“We have suspended him indefinitely…This is a very serious matter….We have taken the steps we need to take when something like that happens in the party,” he said.

“We have structures in the party, if you have any grievances, there is a way you go about it. You report officially to the party and the party will investigate… [Currently] We have investigated it, and we think that we need to set him aside and investigate further,” Ade Coker added.

He said the disciplinary committee of the party will soon invite Tahiru Ahmed to explain his decision.

Background

The National Vice Chairman for the NDC was invited to by the Police after NDC Constituency Chairman for Ayawaso North, Ahmed Tahiru confessed that Alhaji had distributed guns to some selected youth to foment violence on December 7.

However all charges  against him were dropped and he was further discharged.
