The Adwumawura Programme Selection Committee which is expected to be implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has announced the successful completion of its process in Akosombo, Eastern Region.
The committee included representatives from various organizations, including the British Council, the Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, the Ghana Enterprises Agency, MASLOC, the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, the Ministry of Finance, seasoned academics from the University of Ghana Business School, and selected management and staff of NEIP.
The team from Monday, 25th August to Friday, 29th August worked tirelessly, reviewing thousands of applications to ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive process.
Every decision made reflected the commitment to the programme’s guiding principles of diversity, equity, and inclusivity, ensuring that no deserving entrepreneur was left behind.
In line with its Terms of Reference (TOR), the committee successfully completed three major tasks: sorting and validating all applications, reviewing the criteria for selection, and selecting 10,000 viable and scalable businesses, with a buffer of 1,000 to ensure flexibility and inclusivity in the final rollout.
As the next step, the Training of Trainers (TOT) is scheduled to take place from 1st September 2025 to 5th September 2025) to train facilitators for the start of the programme.
The training of selected beneficiaries is set to commence on 15th September, marking another significant step towards empowering entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, and strengthening Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The AdwumaWura Programme aims to create, track, and monitor young businesses annually, with a special focus on the youth.
In its first phase, the top 2,000 implementable business proposals will receive comprehensive support, including:
- Business Development Training: Equipping young entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in business.
- Mentorship: Pairing young entrepreneurs with experienced business leaders and mentors.
- Access to Start-up Capital: Providing financial support to help young entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality.
- Marketing and Networking: Offering platforms for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services, and connect with potential customers and partners.
The Programme is expected to have a significant impact on Ghana’s economy, as it will help to create jobs, stimulate innovation, and promote entrepreneurship among young people.
