The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has partnered with financial institutions to boost funding for its flagship initiative ‘The Adwumawura Programme’ which underscores NEIP’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and driving innovation, ultimately fostering economic growth and development.
The high-level stakeholder engagement with leading players in Ghana’s financial and insurance sectors took place on May 28, 2025.
The engagement brought together a distinguished line-up of commercial banks, insurance firms, and development finance institutions, including Stanbic Bank Ghana, Fidelity Bank Ghana, Absa Bank Ghana LTD, Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, Opportunity International, First Insurance, Unique Insurance, Ghana Union Assurance, among others.
Discussions focused on the pivotal role financial institutions play in enabling access to capital, mitigating risks, and strengthening the long-term sustainability of youth-led enterprises across the country.
Each participating institution shared their current initiatives and expressed a strong willingness to collaborate with NEIP in advancing the objectives of the Adwumawura Programme.
Speaking at the event, the CEO of NEIP, Mr. Eric Adjei, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme and financial institutions in creating a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to thrive.
He highlighted the Adwumawura Programme’s potential to unlock new opportunities for young entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop innovative solutions that can drive economic growth and job creation.
“We are committed to empowering entrepreneurs and driving innovation in Ghana. Our partnership with financial institutions will play a vital role in providing the necessary funding and support to entrepreneurs, enabling them to turn their ideas into successful businesses.
“We are excited about the possibilities that this partnership presents. We look forward to working closely with our partners to provide the necessary support to entrepreneurs and drive innovation in Ghana” he said.
This engagement represents a major stride toward building a robust financial and support ecosystem to help scale Ghana’s entrepreneurial landscape.
It aligns with the broader vision of President John Mahama to support at least 10,000 youth-led businesses annually, unlocking job creation and sustainable economic growth nationwide.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Eric Adjei during the launch of the initiative at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on April 28, 202 said it would be a game changer for Ghanaian youth.
“Through partnerships with Development Partners, Industry Leaders, Private Sector players, Civil Society, and of course, the vibrant youth themselves, we are poised to make this initiative the turning point for youth entrepreneurship in Ghana. Your Excellency, Development Partners, let me use this opportunity to indicate that the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme is working on implementing other interventions aimed at promoting entrepreneurship such as
– The Presidential Innovation Challenge — igniting the spirit of STEM and Green Entrepreneurship.
– The Vice-Presidential Empowerment Programme for Women and Persons with Disability — because inclusion is not optional, it is essential.
– The Student Enterprise Initiative — sparking business ideas right from the classroom and lecture halls;
– Youth in Innovative Agriculture — because the future of food security lies in youthful innovation;
– The Presidential School Garden Initiative — growing young minds and green ideas;
– and Streetism to Entrepreneurship — turning lost hope into lasting prosperity.”
He added, “Imagine the ripple effect – jobs created, communities uplifted, innovations sparked – all starting from the dreams of our own youth! We would need the collaboration and support specifically of the Development partners in mobilizing resources to implement these interventions to contribute significantly to the gains that will be made by The Adwumawura Programme.
“Together we will redefine Ghana’s economic future for decades to come. Mr. President, you have always believed in the youth of Ghana. And today, as we launch The Adwumawura Programme, we affirm our faith that under your leadership, Ghana’s youth will no longer chase jobs — they will create them”.
