The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Eric Adjei ESQ., has described the government flagship initiative ‘Adwumawura’ as a “big-time venture that will boost Ghana’s future” confirming the programme’s success in cultivating a genuine entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He made this known in a Facebook post that reads, “In the early hours of yesterday, I visited the Zongo Business Incubator, a key hub under the Adwumawura Programme. It was a joy to see these enthusiastic participants actively building their innovative ideas into the big-time ventures that will boost Ghana’s future, confirming the programme’s success in cultivating a genuine entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“I extend sincere gratitude to our esteemed training partners for their invaluable expertise. Finally, profound appreciation goes to His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, for his foresight in championing the Adwumawura Programme, empowering these young people to become Ghana’s next successful business leaders.”
In another development, he wrote, “yesterday, I had the distinct honour, accompanied by my able Deputy CEO, of engaging with the participants of the Adwumawura Programme at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). This initiative, which is a testament to the visionary leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, represents a strategic and well thought-through investment in Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
He added, “The sheer fervour and palpable enthusiasm displayed by these future business leaders were truly exemplary. This commitment unequivocally affirms that the future of entrepreneurship in Ghana is exceptionally bright. Their dedication to transforming their innovative ideas into viable businesses is crucial for generating employment and driving national economic diversification.
“We extend our profound gratitude to H.E. President Mahama for establishing this transformative programme. We are equally appreciative of the dedicated trainers whose commitment has made this profound impact possible. We remain resolute in our support for these budding entrepreneurs as they embark on their journey to economic self-reliance and national prosperity.”
UPSA Training Centre
At the University of Professional Studies, Mr. Eric Adjei ESQ., indicated that, it was inspiring to see how the participants, mainly the youth engaged in learning with the commitment to nurture their individual talent for future growth and development.
“Yesterday, I visited the UPSA Training Centre alongside my capable Deputy CEO, Joan Selasie Ahiawordor, Esq., to observe the Adwumawura training program. It was truly inspiring to see the participants engaged in their learning and thriving; their commitment holds the promise of making a substantial impact on Ghana’s entrepreneurial landscape.
“Their enthusiasm and concentration are remarkable, indicating a future where these individuals will be pivotal in driving innovation and economic growth, emphasizing our commitment to nurturing the talent that will shape the nation’s business ecosystem.”
He continued, “We express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated facilitators whose expertise and dedication are essential to the program’s success, helping participants reach their full potential. Adwumawura Programme
The Adwumawura Programme which is expected to create 40,000 jobs over a four-year period is not just a policy under NEIP but a commitment, a lifeline to the countless young men and women who rise every morning with big dreams but are often met with closed opportunities, Mr. Eric Adjei ESQ., has said.
He made this known during the launch of the Programme which took place at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on Monday, April 28, 2025, drawing a significant audience of government officials, young entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
He further explained that, the programme is designed to provide financial support to both new and existing Ghanaian businesses, as well as offer coaching to young entrepreneurs with the goal of generating 10,000 jobs annually.
“The Adwumawura Programme is more than a policy. It is a commitment – a lifeline – to the countless young men and women who rise every morning with big dreams but are often met with closed doors. It is a bold promise that no dream is small, no idea too insignificant, and that under the leadership of President Mahama, every youth will have the opportunity to soar.
“Your Excellency, Ladies and Gentlemen. In 2014 – through the Youth Enterprise Support Fund, which has today evolved into the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), thousands of young businesses, started by daring and determined Ghanaians, have been nurtured and supported”.
He added, “On behalf of the countless young entrepreneurs whose lives have been transformed because of your vision, Mr. President, I say: thank you. And to the many more who are about to embark on their journey with The Adwumawura Programme, I say: your time has come!
“Today, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, with the strong backing of the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, stands ready. We will not just launch businesses. We will nurture dreams. We will build legacies. We will light the path for generations to come. Through partnerships with Development Partners, Industry Leaders, Private Sector players, Civil Society, and of course, the vibrant youth themselves, we are poised to make this initiative the turning point for youth entrepreneurship in Ghana.”
About The Adwumawura Programme
The Programme is a fulfillment of the NDC campaign promise to prioritize youth empowerment and job creation.
The AdwumaWura Programme aims to create, track, and monitor young businesses annually, with a special focus on the youth.
In its first phase, the top 10,000 implementable business proposals will receive comprehensive support, including:
- Business Development Training: Equipping young entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in business.
- Mentorship: Pairing young entrepreneurs with experienced business leaders and mentors.
- Access to Start-up Capital: Providing financial support to help young entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality.
- Marketing and Networking: Offering platforms for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services, and connect with potential customers and partners.
The Programme is expected to have a significant impact on Ghana’s economy, as it will help to create jobs, stimulate innovation, and promote entrepreneurship among young people.
