NGOs in Health Support Immunization in Volta Region

The Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health with support from Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company has presented assorted items to the Ghana Health Service and implementing partners to step up immunization in the Volta Region.

The items; motorbikes, immunization registers, a tricycle, solar lamps, plastic tables and chairs, estimated at GHC85,000 will benefit 60 hard-to-reach communities in Ho West, Ho Municipal, Ketu North, Nkwanta South, Kpando and North Dayi Districts.

Mr Bright Amissah-Nyarko, Vice Chairman of the Coalition, said the gesture was to improve immunization coverage in the Region, which has huge immunization deficit.

He said the Coalition was worried about the lack of basic immunization materials being the hindrance to reaching children in very deprived communities and expressed the hope that the items would help bridge the gap.

Dr. Timothy Letsa, Regional Director of Health Services in a speech on his behalf, expressed excitement about the support and assured that the items would be put to good use.

Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister commended the Coalition for the commitment to improve immunization coverage in the Region and called for more of such supports.

Mr Victor Ntumy, Volta Regional Chairman, Coalition of NGOs in Health, said the Coalition had engaged community volunteers to help get to hard to reach areas and immunize every child in the Region.
