Nigerian Actor Ali Nuhu Is Not Dead

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has dismissed reports on social media claiming that its Director and Chief Executive, Dr. Ali Nuhu, has died.

In a statement released on August 18, 2025, and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, the NFC confirmed that Dr. Nuhu is alive and actively carrying out his duties as Chief Executive. The Corporation described the rumours as false and misleading.

“NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors, to the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions, no matter the innocuousness of their intent,” the statement said.

The NFC further stated that it has begun taking measures to address what it called an “ugly and unsatisfactory trend.” The Corporation strongly condemned the fake news, describing it as “malicious, injurious, and false in its entirety.”

Despite the falsehood, the NFC expressed gratitude for the genuine concern shown by the public and stakeholders in both the private and public sectors.

The rumours about Dr. Nuhu’s alleged death started spreading on social media on Monday evening. Several videos containing his pictures were widely shared, fueling the misinformation.

Dr. Ali Nuhu, a respected actor and filmmaker, was appointed as Chief Executive of the NFC by President Bola Tinubu on February 12, 2024. Since then, he has been leading efforts to develop and promote the Nigerian film industry.

The NFC assured the public that Dr. Nuhu remains committed to his role and urged people to disregard the false reports.

DEATH HOAX: DR. ALI NUHU IS ALIVE AND WELL

The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive being orchestrated within the social media space; and wishes to officially and unambiguously inform the general public that the reports, including videos laced with the pictures of Dr. Ali Nuhu are not only malicious, injurious but false in their entirety.

Dr. Ali Nuhu is alive, well and discharging the responsibilities of the office of NFC’s Chief Executive, having been appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on February 12, 2024.

NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors of the dire and unmistakable

consequences of their actions, no matter the innocuousness of their intent.

Meanwhile, appropriate measures have been initiated to arrest this ugly, baleful and unsatisfactory conduct and trend.

NFC appreciates the genuine concerns expressed by the general public, private and public sector stakeholders as a result of the above.
