Nkunku Eyes Chelsea Exit

Christopher Nkunku has reportedly told Chelsea he wants to leave the club, with German giants Bayern Munich showing interest.

However, his move may depend on whether Tottenham Hotspur decide to keep Mathys Tel permanently.

The 27-year-old forward has struggled for playing time since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023. Injuries disrupted his first season, and this term he has mostly played in the UEFA Conference League, where he has scored seven goals.

Despite his past success in the Bundesliga, Nkunku has not been able to break into Chelsea’s Premier League starting line-up regularly due to the impressive form of Cole Palmer.

Bayern Munich showed interest in Nkunku during the January transfer window but pulled back. Now, they are considering him again as a back-up to Harry Kane. However, they reportedly need funds from the possible sale of Mathys Tel to make a move for Nkunku.

Tel is currently on loan at Tottenham, who are unsure about paying the €50 million (£43m) fee to make the deal permanent.

Meanwhile, Nkunku is expected to play in Chelsea’s Conference League semi-final first leg against Djurgarden on Thursday night.

He hopes to end his eight-game goal drought, having been an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.
