Nominees under attack …dirty plots against Adjei Mensah Korsah backfires

The nominee for the position of Deputy Minister for Local Government, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has become the latest victim of a grand plot targeted at most of the persons nominated to occupy various deputy ministerial positions.

In the case of Adjei-Mensah Korsah, MP for Techiman South, he has escaped the evil plots unscratched because the worrisome allegations of abusing his office in a reckless land grabbing spree smeared on him has turned out to be a cocktail of imaginary tales, potential libel and a one-sided vicious trial by media.

The traditional authorities who happen to be the custodians of the said land, have also expressed surprise at the allegations published against Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah and said they are lacing boots to come out publicly to explain his innocence.

It cannot be sheer coincidence that suddenly a good number of the deputy minister nominees have become targets of jaw-dropping scary allegations that if true, automatically disqualifies them from taking up positions that have been penciled for them.

In the particular case of Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, some persons who allege he has taken over their lands at Tse Addo, a rich community in Accra, where the affluent live and their fine-looking children play have sent petitions authored against the MP to several high places.

They have not gone to court to seek redress as the law permits but rather they have sent petitions to the Chair of the Appointments Committee about to vet the Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah.

They have also petitioned the Speaker of Parliament and other caucus leaders in the House.

It is not yet certain the intention and circumstances under which the said petitions found their way into the newsrooms of particular media houses who immediately embarked on a gruesome media trial against Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah in the courts of public opinion.

Bogus Petitions

The Techiman South MP, through his lawyers has expressed shock at the boldness with which his accuses have gone public, knowing very well he is innocent of the charges leveled against him.

His lawyers have said in writing that:

“The land, the subject matter of the petitioners is unknown to our client [Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah]

“Our client [Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah] has absolutely no interest in the land, the subject matter of the pepetion

“Our client [Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah] has not sent anyone to develop the land”

Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah has said he does not even know the petitioners although they claim he was personally involved in some litigation with them over the said lands and that he was using his high office to abuse their basic rights to own property.

Lawyers for Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah have asked the petitioners to come clear on their allegation against the MP on this particular matter of supposed land grabbing.

They have asked the petitioners to provide some better and further particulars to prove their claim so that if truly they own parcels of land that is being snatched from them through unfair means, the institutions of state can step in to help defend their property.

The lawyers say they would employ all and every legitimate means in defending the reputation of Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah and that persons behind the libelous allegations and the republication of same should be reminded that their conduct is actionable.
