NPP Big Shots Kneel to Beg Angry Otumfuo

Some leading figures of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) visited the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, 2 May 2018 to apologise to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Asante monarch got enraged by what he said were attempts by some people close to government to pitch him against the Akyems.

Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu and Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, as well as the party’s Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) and Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Kwabena Senkyire, trooped to the Manyhia Palace to appease the monarch.

The NPP leaders went on their knees to plead for clemency in open court of the Manhyia Palace.

Otumfuo’s linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi intervened to intercede on behalf of the NPP leaders as they knelt before the monarch.

“Your own grandchildren. Regional Minister, the Mayor and John Boadu. They say this is a surprise to them.

“As a caring parent, you don’t harbour ill-feeling. They are pleading for pardon. Please, forgive them”, Otumfuo’s linguist pleaded on their behalf.
