NPP CHAIRMAN CONDEMNS ATTACKS ON POLICE

The Afigya Kwabre South constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has expressed concern over the recent unprovoked, violent attacks on police officers in the country.

According to him, democracy thrives in countries where the police institution is strong, respected and well protected.

“The recent killings of some policemen in the country, especially the shooting of two policemen at Kasoa, are a threat to our infant democracy because democracy is about effective policing.

“If our police system is not strong and respected, definitely, our democratic system that we all feel proud about, would collapse so nobody should attack the police”, Odeneho said at the official opening of a Workshop for NPP Polling Station Women Organizers at Afigya Kwabre South.

He also charged the citizenry to always supply credible information to the police so they can apprehend criminals, even before they strike.

According to him, the police service will flourish if the public constantly gives them the needed support and encouragement.

He did not only express his sadness at the consistent killing of officers on duty, but also called for an immediate stop of all forms of attacks against security officers in the country.

Touching on politics, Odeneho said he was impressed with the exceptional leadership style of President Nana Akufo-Addo, which he said, had helped transform the country in less than three years after assuming political office.

The workshop was under the theme: ‘Election 2020, the Role of Polling Station Women Organisers’.
