NPP Suspends ‘Bawumia Boy’

Just as predicted by THE NEW PUBLISHER, Manaf Ibrahim, aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who flouted the directives of his party and filed to contest the Asawase Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries, has been disqualified and suspended indefinitely.

The NEW PUBLISHER, it would be recalled, in its Monday, August 19, 2019 edition, published a front page story with the caption ‘Bawumia Boy, MCE Grilled Over Asawase NPP MP Seat’.

In the story, the paper predicted that Manaf could be disqualified from taking part in the Asawase elections despite being vetted.

The paper again predicted that Gifty Ndoma, a contestant for the Ejura Sekyeredumase seat, could also be disciplined.

True to the predictions, Manaf Ibrahim and Gifty Ndoma have had their dreams crashed as they have been disqualified. The two are also facing an indefinite suspension.

The Ashanti Regional Council of the NPP, at a sitting on Sunday, said Ibrahim and Ndoma have breached party regulations and, therefore, deserved to be punished to serve as deterrent to others.

Kwabena Nsenkyire, the Ashanti Regional NPP First Vice Chairman, in an interview with the paper, said Alidu Seidu, the MCE for Asokore Mampong, has been cleared to solely contest the Asawase seat.

According to him, Salisu Bamba and Joseph Owusu have both been cleared by the vetting committee to contest the Ejura Sekyeredumase and the Sekyere Afram Plains primaries, respectively.

Nsenkyire further disclosed that the Asawase Constituency NPP Research Officer, who misbehaved during the vetting of the aspirants on Saturday, has also been suspended from the party.

According to him, the regional executives, led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, decided to crack the whip on any offending party member in the region to ensure discipline.
