NPP suspends party ID card issuance over coordination concerns

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has placed an immediate suspension on the issuance of party identification cards across the country.

This directive comes in response to rising concerns over inconsistencies and lack of coordination in the ongoing card distribution process.

In a memo signed by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and addressed to both Regional and Constituency Executive Committees, the party said the current approach to issuing ID cards has raised “significant concerns among various regions, constituencies, and Members of Parliament.”

According to the statement dated Tuesday (8 April), the absence of a structured and harmonised approach compromises the integrity of the process and threatens the credibility of the NPP’s identification system.

“To uphold the legitimacy and security of our operations, I hereby direct an immediate suspension of all Party ID card issuances until further notice,” the memo read.

The general secretary stated that this measure is critical to ensuring a more transparent and organised process going forward. He assured party stakeholders that additional directives will be communicated in due course.

The party’s leadership has urged all executives to comply promptly with the directive, describing it as both expected and deeply appreciated.

The party has also reiterated its commitment to internal reforms that will strengthen party structures and enhance operational transparency.
