Nyantakyi Resigns as GFA President

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi has resigned as the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

He tended in his resignation letter on Friday, 8 June 2018 after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association.

This follows the recently aired video documentary by undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, titled: ‘Number 12 When Misconduct and Greed Become the Norm’, which captured widespread corruption in Ghana football.

The documentary exposed gross graft within the GFA characterised by widespread fraud, corruption and bribery.

Mr Nyantakyi has been implicated in the said video.

Mr Nyantakyi is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for collecting bribe and also using the names of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to solicit bribes.

In the undercover piece, he said: “We will take over the whole country”, once the so-called investors brought millions of dollars to bribe the president, vice-president and some officials at the presidency.

Government has dissolved the GFA as a result of the rot unearthed by the documentary.
