Parliament will resume sitting on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, at 12:00 noon, Speaker Alban Bagbin has announced.
According to the official statement, dated , January, 20, 2026, he issued a Constitutional Instrument to commence the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic. Using the powers vested in him by Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution, the Speaker set the date and time for MPs to return to Parliament House in Accra.
The official instrument, signed by the Speaker, January 19th, 2026, directs all Members of Parliament (MPs) to reconvene at the appointed time to resume the nation’s legislative business.
The commencement of the Second Session marks a critical phase in the parliamentary calendar. Government business, including the consideration of bills, approvals, and oversight of the executive, will resume in earnest. The session is expected to address key legislative agendas and pending matters from the previous session.
All MPs are expected to be present as the House returns from its recess to continue its constitutional duties.
