Black Stars player and former midfielder for Arsenal Football Club, Thomas Teye Partey was granted conditional bail when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday August 5 over rape and sexual assault charges.
His next appearance in court would be on Tuesday September 2, 2025.
Thomas Partey spent less than 15 minutes in the rather short appearance where he was asked and answered only two questions on whether he fully understood the bail conditions and also to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
The 32-year old Ghanaian is facing five charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault all being levelled against him by three women who say the alleged offences happened in 2021 and 2022.
Partey has denied all the charges.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire of Hickman and Rose, noted in a statement when Partey was charged: “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Thomas Partey was charged with the alleged offences four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June. The investigation had started in February 2022 when the Police received a first report of alleged rape.
Bail Conditions
Under the bail conditions, Thomas Partey must inform the police if there would be any permanent change in his residential address.
He is to give prior information to the police if and when he is to leave the UK on any form of travel.
He is not to make any form of contact with any of the alleged victims.
He is to attend the next court hearing.
