Partey Debuts In Villarreal’s 2-0 Win Over Oviedo

Ghana deputy captain Thomas Partey made his first appearance for Villarreal in their 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Estadi de la Ceràmica.

The midfielder, 32, came on in the 82nd minute, replacing Santi Comesaña, to help secure the win against the newly promoted side.

Partey joined Villarreal this summer after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired. His move to Spain marks a new chapter in his career after spending four seasons with the Gunners. However, his debut comes at a difficult time, as he is facing legal troubles. Earlier this month, Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged him with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

On the pitch, Etta Eyong opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Pape Gueye doubled Villarreal’s advantage in the 36th.

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo, instrumental in Real Oviedo’s promotion campaign last season, played the full 90 minutes on his LaLiga debut.
