Three Black Stars players; Thomas Partey, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams – have been nominated for the 2025 “Best Ghana Footballer of the Year” award.
The ceremony will take place on June 14, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The Ghana Football Awards will honour the most outstanding footballers in various categories. Partey, Semenyo, and Williams were selected after an excellent season with their clubs, representing Ghana proudly on the world stage.
Thomas Partey had a strong campaign with Arsenal. He played an important role as the team finished second in the English Premier League behind Liverpool and reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The 31-year-old midfielder was brilliant in Arsenal’s wins against Real Madrid in both legs of the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, he missed the first leg of the semi-finals against PSG, which many believe affected Arsenal’s chances. Partey scored four goals and provided two assists in 35 league games.
Reports suggest that Spanish giants Barcelona are interested in signing him, with new manager Hansi Flick said to admire his playing style.
Antoine Semenyo also had a great season with Bournemouth. The forward scored 11 goals and made five assists in 37 league appearances, helping the team finish in ninth place. His consistent performance has caught the attention of top Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim is believed to be keen on bringing the Ghanaian striker to Old Trafford. Bournemouth, however, will demand a club-record transfer fee.
Inaki Williams of Athletic Club could also win again after being named the Best African Player in La Liga. The 30-year-old forward played more minutes than any other teammate this season and recorded 14 goal contributions. His efforts helped Athletic Club qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
According to the Ghana Football Awards website, the winners will be chosen by an electoral college made up of journalists, coaches, club captains, and fans. Fans can vote via SMS and online platforms, with each group getting one vote.
