Photos: Church Of Pentecost, Zoomlion Embarks On Clean-up Exercise

The much awaited clean-up exercise by the Church of Pentecost with support from Zoomlion Company came off over the weekend as planned at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region.

The exercise was in line with the church to use their pulpits to sensitize church members on sanitation.

In view of this, the church body is embarking on clean-up exercises to rid the Kosoa market communities in the city of the filth occasioned by the indiscriminate dumping of solid waste among others.

The clean-up exercise took place at exactly 6: 00 am from the Kosoa market to the town where big gutters are seen.

The National Coordinator of the exercise revealed about 500 waste bins has been donated to support the campaign.

Mr Samuel Gakpetor said it was time for all Ghanaians to get involved in the waste management process by managing waste in their homes using waste bins before it spilled out onto the streets and gutters.

The ‘Environmental Care Campaign’

The Environmental Care Campaign is aimed at protecting the environment and curbing sanitation-related issues in the country.

Themed ‘Environmental Care, My Responsibility’, the campaign is scheduled to be rolled-out in four categories: education, clean-up exercises, community-based initiatives, tree-planting exercises and other activities.

Giving further details about the Environmental Care Campaign, Mr Samuel Gakpetor said the campaign would be conducted in phases, including education, environmental clean-ups and other community-based activities.

Partnership with Zoomlion

As a partner of the campaign, Zoomlion Ghana Limited will be providing personnel and equipment during the clean-up exercises across the nation. To kick-start the campaign, the company presented 500 waste bins to the church at the earlier launch, and agreed to place some litter-bins at strategic places.

Per the campaign, members of the Church and Zoomlion are to organize periodic clean-up exercises, hold seminars on sanitation and distribute waste bins, among other activities in ensuring a clean environment.

The campaign themed “Environmental care, my responsibility” is aimed at rallying members of the Church of Pentecost and Zoomlion staff to improve the level of sanitation in the country.

Aps. Nyamekye commended Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, “one of the most effective and renowned Waste Management Companies in Ghana”, for accepting to partner the church to execute the project.

The company, he said, will be providing personnel and equipment during the clean-up exercises across the nation.
