Plastic Surgery Doesn’t Fix Insecurities – Efia Odo

Ghanaian actress and socialite Andrea Owusu, famously known as Efia Odo has added her voice to the ongoing debate about body enhancement among women.

She believes cosmetic surgery cannot solve problems of low self-esteem.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on April 14, 2025, Efia Odo encouraged women to turn to Christ for self-worth instead of using body-enhancing procedures to feel better about themselves.

“Plastic surgery doesn’t fix insecurities. You must be self-validated within. Nothing outside of you can save you apart from being in Christ, because that’s your true self. Christ is not a religion; it’s one’s true self,” she wrote.

Her message came shortly after another Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, made similar comments. Yvonne strongly disapproved of body enhancement, suggesting that women who go through such procedures often lack confidence.

“I feel that it is a mental thing. It is a lack of confidence,” Yvonne said.

The actress and entrepreneur also advised young women to avoid following that path. She warned that once someone starts altering their body, they might not stop.

“The minute you do that, it never stops. The minute you alter any part of your body, you would want to alter another part. You would want a fuller lip. You would want a bigger ear. You would always want to change something about you,” she added.

Both actresses stressed the importance of loving oneself and finding confidence from within. They urged women to stop relying on public opinions or social media trends to define their beauty.

The conversation has sparked different reactions online, with some agreeing and others defending body enhancement as a personal choice. Still, both Efia Odo and Yvonne Nelson believe that real beauty and peace come from within and not from surgery.
