THE MANKRANSO Police, in the Ashanti Region, are currently facing a daunting task of working assiduously to help identify and possibly arrest five highway robbers, who are at large.
The five runaway hoodlums recently wore masks to hide their faces when they robbed a group of miners on the Apotosu and Adugyama highway.
Wielding guns and the deadly weapons, the bandits reportedly robbed quantities of unrefined gold, registered guns and a tricycle from their victims.
A Mankranso District Police statement, which THE NEW PUBLISHER has seen, confirming the incident said police are on the heels of the suspects.
“On 18/04/2026 at 1400 hrs, complainants Abdul Salam Musah, aged 34, with Inusah Moro, aged 31, Mamudu Gafaru aged 25, and Kingsford Ofori Atta, aged 44, all miners and residents of Adugyama, came to the Mankranso Police Station and that on same day at about 0920 hrs, a group of young men, all wearing face masks, numbering about five, attacked them with guns and robbed them of their unrefined gold popularly known as “Black “, one single barrel gun with registration number ASD/844/25, one pump action gun and one unregistered Apsonic motor tricycle on the stretch between Apotosu and Adugyama.
“After the act, the robbers bolted with the complainants bolted with the tricycle. The complainants added that they cannot identify the robbers when seen”, the police report said.
According to the police, the victims of the robbery attack have mentioned someone at Duyan Nkwanta, whom they believed may have a hand in their attack and the police are working on that important lead to help arrest the suspects.
