A Police Inspector stationed at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region has been interdicted by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.
The officer, identified as Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in the Agona District.
According to a statement issued by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command on May 9, the complaint was filed on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua on behalf of her daughter, who allegedly suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her biological father.
Police said the victim was subsequently referred to a government health facility for medical examination to support ongoing investigations.
The statement further disclosed that the suspect reported himself to the Agona DOVVSU office on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and cautioned.
“Suspect denied the allegations and was later granted enquiry bail with instructions to report periodically,” the statement said.
Police also confirmed in the statement that the inspector has been interdicted to allow for thorough investigations into the case.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command assured the public that investigations are ongoing and pledged to provide updates as the case develops.
