New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communicator Kwasi Oppong has called on Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate allegations of vote-buying during the recent National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency-level elections.
He questioned on Kumasi-based Angel FM why the OSP had not taken action over allegations that some delegates were given money before casting their votes.
The NPP Communicator claimed that evidence had emerged showing alleged payments made through physical cash and mobile money, arguing that the anti-corruption agency should investigate the matter.
“There are those that gave money through physical cash and others through MoMo, and these are evidence; they showed us the bribe. OSP must do something about it,” he said.
Kwasi Oppong questioned whether the OSP knew about the allegations and urged the institution to take the matter seriously, since evidence of wrongdoing exists.
“Is the OSP in Ghana?” he asked, frustrated by what he described as a lack of action.
He further accused the OSP of applying justice selectively, calling on the institution to investigate allegations of corruption without regard to political affiliation.
“That selective justice they do is about time they stopped it,” he stated.
