Prophet D.Y. Donkoh has publicly apologised to Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale after being arrested for making a controversial prophecy about the musician’s death.
The pastor was reportedly taken from his home by police after a video of his prophecy went viral and sparked strong reactions from the public.
In the video, posted on X on 22nd July, 2025, Prophet Donkoh said he had received two separate visions from God about Shatta Wale.
The first vision showed Shatta Wale surviving an attack and later thanking God in public. The second, however, described a tragic shooting where the artist was fatally attacked by three armed men.
Shatta Wale did not take the prophecy lightly. Posting on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, he strongly criticised the Police Service for allowing what he describes as “doom prophecies” to continue.
“Men of God indeed. This is what Dampare supported, and it escalated. Ghana Police, if you don’t arrest this man within one week, nobody should blame me for what I am capable of doing, and it won’t be violence, but a lesson to this country. #GODISHERE”.
Following his arrest and the heavy criticism, Prophet Donkoh released a public statement on Saturday, July 27, 2025, where he explained his side and offered a formal apology to Shatta Wale and his followers.
“I, Counsellor DY DONKOH, find it right to address the recent prophecy I shared concerning Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale. The prophecy, which was delivered on all my social media platforms, has since sparked widespread concern, and I find it necessary to offer an apology on the matter. While the revelation came through divine inspiration, it was never intended to cause fear and panic or emotional distress.”
The prophet admitted he had come to understand the negative impact the prophecy had on Shatta Wale.
“I want to state unequivocally that this was never my intention. As a servant of God, I understand the weight of my words, especially when shared on a public platform. I empathise deeply with Shatta Wale and his loved ones; I extend my heartfelt apologies for any fear or mental distress caused,” he said.
He added that going forward, he would be more careful and sensitive in sharing spiritual messages publicly.
