PSG Agree to Let Neymar Return to Spain for €200m

Neymar and PSG have reached a tentative agreement to allow the Brazilian star to return to LaLiga next season for a fee of 200 million euros, according to Barcelona-based broadcaster Betevé.

The public television station claims that Barça, who have long been linked with a move to bring their former player back to Camp Nou from Paris, have been made aware of the pact and have already opened negotiations. André Cury, a Barça negotiator and a close confidant of Neymar and his family, reportedly met with Neymar Sr. in London last week to discuss the possibility of a return to the club.

While Neymar’s priority desire is to pull on the claret and blue shirt again, neither the player or his advisers have ruled out a move to Real Madrid if the Camp Nou board do not fancy sanctioning a club record fee to land a player who will be 27 before the end of the 2018-19 season. However, with PSG facing Financial Fair Play issues and Barça having Ousmane Dembélé up their sleeve, that 200m fee may be a negotiable matter.

Real Madrid likely to be in the chase for Neymar

Neymar has often been reported to be unhappy in France and Real Madrid have often been linked with a move for the Brazil captain, but in recent seasons club policy has veered towards investing in younger players at more affordable prices as Florentino Pérez attempts to push through his €575m revamp of the Bernabéu. The chance to sign an established superstar to replace Cristiano Ronaldo may appeal to the Real president though, and Madrid are hardly short of bargaining chips either.

PSG are said to be happy enough to take a hit of €22 million on the world record fee they shelled out for Neymar in 2017 given that the player has set his heart on a return to Spain. The emergence of Kylian Mbappé, one of the favourites for the 2018 Ballon d’Or award, is another factor in PSG’s apparent willingness to acquiesce to Neymar’s wishes.
