Queen Mothers Praise Auntie Becky

THE ASHANTI Regional Queen Mothers Association, made up of very influential queen mothers, has showered tons of praises on First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo for her proactive and development-oriented nature, so far.

They observed that the first lady’s few months in office has resulted in several positives for the country, especially in the areas of health, education, women empowerment and several others.

The Queen mothers particularly commended the First Lady for her vision and selfless role towards the construction of the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The Queen mother of Asante Mampong, Nana Agyakoma Difie, speaking on behalf of queen mothers, stated that the construction of the MBU at KATH would help prevent deaths of pregnant mothers and their babies.

For many years, she recollected, several pregnant mothers and babies lost their lives at KATH due to lack of space and facilities, saying that the First Lady deserves applause for intervening to stop the preventable deaths.

Nana Agyakoma Difie stated that queen mothers play roles to promote the lives of women, children and the growth of their areas, adding that the First Lady’s effort is gradually making the work of the queen mothers easier.

The event was when the queen mothers traveled from Kumasi to pay a courtesy call on the First Lady at her office at Ridge in Accra. The occasion was used to highlight some of the major contributions of the first lady, so far.

Rebecca Akufo-Addo pledged her commitment in helping to make access to health available to the women, children and the citizenry in general, adding that she takes pride in working to help others in society.

According to her, she would work closely with appropriate international organizations so as to fight the malaria menace, which poses threat to the lives of mothers and children, in the country.
