Ghanaian rapper, Denning Edem Hotor, also known as Ayigbe Edem, has revealed that attempts to get his colleague, rapper Agbeko, into a psychiatric facility for rehabilitation were unsuccessful, as Agbeko refused to join the programme.
The disclosure came in a post shared on X on November 17, 2025.
Edem explained that he had done everything possible to help Agbeko, who has been struggling with drug addiction, find a new path in life. According to him, he spent the entire day with Agbeko, moving from an eatery to a salon so the rapper, who appeared unkempt, could get a fresh trim.
He added that after that, they went to the Pantang Health Facility to enter a rehabilitation programme, but Agbeko refused to participate.
“It’s with deep disappointment that I want to inform all well-wishers and family that the entire team followed up on Agbeko, and we did everything possible to get him on a new path. Earlier today, I spent the whole day with him from salon to eatery.
We spent an extra four hours into the evening at the Pantang Health Facility, where he refused to enter a rehabilitation programme, even with professional effort and guidance. Thanks to everyone who assisted, and thanks to team VRMG,” Edem wrote.
The rapper’s struggles were highlighted in a video shared online by DJ Bridash on October 28, 2025. The clip showed an embattled Agbeko approaching Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty on the street to ask for money. In the video, Agbeko, who looked unkempt, said he needed money for some items.
Andy Dosty reportedly declined to give him cash, concerned it might be misused given Agbeko’s history of drug abuse, which has affected his career. Instead, Dosty offered to buy him food, which Agbeko hesitated to accept before eventually agreeing.
Following the viral video, Edem reached out to support his colleague, hoping to help him overcome his addiction and get back on track, but Agbeko ultimately refused the rehabilitation programme.
