Rasta Wale Named ‘Student Entrepreneur Of The Year’

Abdulai Yahaya popularly known as Rasta Wale has been adjudged as the best Student Entrepreneur of the year in the country.

He was named the winner of the award at the 2019 edition of the National Students Awards held at the Jen Nelson Hall, University of Ghana-Legon under the theme ”Developing the Culture of Excellence And Celebrating Ingenuity”.

The National Students Awards in a citation presented to Wale said the award is in appreciation of his devoted service to the less privileged and passion towards changing the lives of people in all forms of businesses especially across the county.

“The award is made in appreciation of your devoted service to the less privileged and your passion towards positively changing the lives of children especially”, part of the citation stated.

A delegation from the National Students Awards, led by its president presented the award to the entrepreneur amid cheers and excitement from the audience at the auditorium.

Rasta receiving the award stressed that he was humbled and honored by the gesture and will continue to do more for the less-privileged in society on behalf of his Ras Foundation. 

”This award means a lot to me. I celebrate this day with everyone, including the nominees who were competing with me, it was tough but I think the end results has shown all. My win means a lot, I couldn’t have come this far without the support of my fans.

”They campaigned, voted and made sure I win this tonight. I am grateful to all. I promise more in the coming years. We shall work harder to achieve more. God bless everyone for the time spent. Medaase Ghana” he said. 

He further noted that although the Foundation doesn’t work with the aim of winning awards, recognition and prestigious awards encourages the leadership of the foundation to do more for society.

Rasta Wale expressed great pleasure, saying he was grateful to be honored among many other entrepreneurs and philanthropists whose quota helping push Ghana forward.

Ras is the founder of Ras Clothing, a clothing line that seeks to promote African clothing to the global market. He is also the founder of thevibekart.com, an online shop that deals with men’s clothing, women’s clothing, kids clothing, toys, electronics, phones, laptops and many more.

His new venture Carcall which is also a transport company runs transport services like Uber. His foundation RAS FOUNDATION, formerly RASTA WALE FOUNDATION helps the less privilege and vulnerable in society. He is currently studying medicine at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan University.

About The Awards

The National Students’ Awards is an award scheme organised by the National Students’ Alliance, a body corporate established by the leadership of all student groups in Ghana.
