Report Fake Currency Producers – ASP Juliana Obeng

The Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti regional Police, ASP Juliana Obeng has urged the public to report anyone suspected of producing fake currency to the police.

She made the statement on Starr FM when commenting on the 2 culprits who were arrested at Adum in Kumasi on the 31st of August 2017.

The 2 men, Dauda Issah and Osman Issah aged 31 and 30 respectively were caught by the Police in the Ashanti Region with a machine suspected to be used in the production of fake notes.

The police seized a sum of Ghc14,000 fake currency all in 10 cedi denomination which they believed could have easily passed as genuine.

According to the ASP, during investigations the culprits confessed that they had an accomplice named Mallam Abdul Raheem Suleiman.

She could not go into details of how they intend apprehending him because she described it as classified information but she mentioned that the third partner they suspect is either in Techiman or Tamale.

She stated that the public can validate the authenticity of any currency by visiting any bank or police station after being questioned about the safety of Ghanaians in connection with the fake currencies.

She commended the Ashanti Regional command for a good job done and mentioned that they are working with the Bank of Ghana and other necessary institutions to assist the court in bringing justice.
